8 Adjustment

The card Adjustment was originally called Justice. But Crowley decided that this was not the correct name for it, for Justice implied a human condition, not one of Nature.
Good balance between logic and emotion, worldly and spiritual affairs; detached observation. Card of the mediator or arbitrator. Can also denote legal action, contracts, divorce, or marriage depending upon the surrounding cards. In the possibility of marriage, the arrangment is more for convenience; also one where marriage contracts may be signed. Favorable sign in the case of a legal question. This card is on of the Karmic cards. Any injustice being done or experienced by the client must be viewed nnot only in a worldly manner, but also in relation to the cosmos.

Cooperation with others to achieve a goal. Choices are made based on intuition. It is the card for playing hunches, of divine inspiration and second sight. There is much harmony with this card, as well as true partnerships. At times this card can indicate someone who is so immersed with the cerebral and/or the spiritual, that he is in danger of totally disregarding his physical needs. In a question pertaining to love or to marriage, it represents love, harmony, trust, and the overcoming of hard times through cooperation.

The card of the Initiate, the Seeker, Good advise, guidance. Anxiety and restlessness; the need to “go within” to find the answers. Can indicate a marriage. In the number 4 position, The Past, it references a series of tests that the individual has had to face. Look to the surrounding cards to see if mastery was achieved. In any of the “present” or “future” positions, can indicate a series of tests that the individual will have to face. Through self-disciple, perseverance, and inner guidance, the individual can achieve mastery over these tests.

Power, authority, leadership. Governments and corporations. Domination of reason and logic over emotion. Willpower; self-control learned through experience.
Symbolic of anyone in a position of authority. Worldly success; financial gain through contracts and papers. Success comes either through self-mastery, discipline, and willpower or through another who is in a position of authority.

Great creativity manifested for the good of the group. Can also indicate an evolvement and acceptance of the feminine principle within the person.
